rose experts.can you help?

i live in essex u.k. i have a beautiful rose hybrid named alexander.its position is facing south east.my problem is the blooms appear at around 8 feet which diminishes its beauty.i have tried pruning very low but that has no effect.can you advise a solution of encouraging it to produce the blooms at a more reasonable height say around 3/5 feet. thanks.

IF the plant is not receiving 5 or more hours of sun a day this might account for its height or if it is not getting sun for the first five feet this might cause the problem. If you feel that it is getting plenty of sun then you will have to maintain the height by topping it a couple of times during the growing season at three to four feet in addition to its annual winter pruning. If it is not getting enough sun you may have to transplant it. I am assuming this is a bush rose rather than a climber. If it is a climber you will need to train the main canes to grow horizontally. This forces small shoots to come out along the cane and flowers will appear on these side shoots. Climbers do not reqiure as much pruning once they are trained in fact a heavy pruning causes them to not form flowers. Look up :”pruning climbing roses” for more info

Comment – This rose is a hybrid tea that is tall growing up to two meters and requires over six hours of sun per day. It will need one good pruning in thew winter and posibly shortened a foot or two once or twice during the growing season. If you are not familiar with winter pruning there are plenty of articles on the web and often a local nursery or a garden club will present rose pruning demos during that season (Most likely in January.– I had to look up this rose this morning couldn’t find it last night.

No argument, Alexander Wang is one of New York’s fashion stars. His latest laurels: a GQ/CFDA menswear award, and the opening of his first flagship just days away. And yet, for the past two seasons, his ready-to-wear collection has received a mixed response from editors who thrive on Wang’s buzz and retailers who do gangbusters with his ever-expanding T line.

But with today’s show, Wang made a triumphant return to form that injected the sexy, tough, cool-girl attitude he’s built his brand on with a heightened sense of luxury. The designer explained in a preview: “We’re almost poking fun at decadence and luxury.” Almost, and well, really just enough. All the lush, cocoon-y outerwear was clever, not clownish or immature in its hybridizations of bomber jacket-turned-poncho, boyfriend blazer-turned-fur coat, and a tuxedo jacket with puffer sleeves.

You could simultaneously get the jokey comment on the current fur mania with his mink-wrapped sunglasses and boudoir bobbles on high-shine metallic loafers while still thinking it all looked pretty great. And it did. From all those coats to the smart split-up-the-side heavy-ribbed knits paired with glitter drainpipe jeans (perfect for the “Billie Jean” effect on the runway) and a rose-hued satin skirt of slashed ribbons, to his various riffs on the tuxedo for evening.
We’re looking at where can we push our language further,” said Wang, noting that his aim was to create a point of difference from his lower-priced lines. You saw that here in pieces that magically morphed from chunky hand-knit to needle-punched angora to satin, a special effect you’d never see in T. That’s the result of newly sourced factories in Italy, where Wang will also be producing his shoes. The designer is clearly on a roll, and with the hire late last year of the company’s first president, Rodrigo Bazan, whose résumé includes Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs International, Wang’s future is burning bright. And that’s no joke.

Would you ever name your children my favorite names?

Ok, no, I’m not expecting, but I like looking at baby names and making up stories, so here it is:
(P.S. Starred are popularity ratings by me)
Girls: Boys:
Stella Rose **** Ethan Alexander *****
Claire Elizabeth ***** Gabe Nicholas ***
Brea Marie *** Blake Michael ****
Brooke Isabelle **** Matthew Joseph ***
Jenna Marie **** Joel Alexander ****

P.S. Sorry about the bendiness of the words lol ;)

Wow, you have a lot of my favourite names in there!

Stella Rose – I love this one. Stella is one of my favourite names and I love Rose as a middle name. They go great together.
Claire Elizabeth – I like more uncommon and unique names. So this isn’t really my taste.
Brea Marie – I love the name Brea, and I love Marie as a middle name! Have you heard of the name Brielle/Briella? I think that’s even prettier, Briella Marie.
Brooke Isabelle – I love both names, but would prefer it the other way round, Isabelle Brooke.
Jenna Marie – Jenna is another of my favourites! And Marie goes great with it as a middle name.

Ethan Alexander – Ethan is one of my favourite boys names. Alexander is nice with it. I love Ethan Max.
Gabe Nicholas – I don’t really like Gabe. But I do like Nicholas, although it’s not one of my favourites. Again, I think this would sound better the other way around, Nicholas Gabe.
Blake Michael – Blake is nice, but I prefer it as a middle name. Michael is okay, but not my taste.
Matthew Joseph – I really like Matthew, but not Joseph. And I don’t think this one flows very well.
Joel Alexander – I think this is really nice! Joel is one of my favourite, and Alexander is great with it.

I would definitely use these names :)
