Planting an organic garden is a great way to help protect your family, yourself, pets and wildlife from coming in contact with harsh chemicals. It is also a great way to help your environment go green and maintain a healthy habitat.

Roses are a beautiful type of flower and gives off an elegance that everyone in the neighborhood can enjoy. If you are interested in starting an organic rose garden, you will be happy to know that the process is actually quite easy and inexpensive.

In order to grow roses successfully, you must first understand how nature works to be able to maintain the plant. Water and nutrients are needed by all plants in order to absorb through the roots and into the stems and leave. Carbohydrates are stored in the plant to use as persevered energy for crisis situations.

Having quality soil is the key to keeping your roses beautiful and healthy. You should first test your soil pH to see if it falls between the averages of 5.5 to 7. The idea pH is a 6.5 because this is the point where phosphorous, minerals, nitrogen and potassium are easily available for your plants.

If your soil is not in the right pH range, you can change it by the use of humus. This formula is created by composting with compost bins. Humus can also help with other problems such as soil that is too sandy or contains too much clay. For soil that is to acidic, you can add natural limestone to help get the balance back to normal.

You can create your own compost by collecting plant clipping from the debris in your yard. Organic rose fertilizer should be used in the soil around the roots of the roses. These natural products are especially made for rose gardening and can do wonders for your organic rose garden.

It is best to water the organic rose garden a lot during the growing and blooming time. Remember it is always better to over water than to under water to allow the moisture to penetrate the roots. Four to five gallons of water is idea for roses. Avoid watering your roses during the day due to direct sunlight. It’s better to water in the early morning or late afternoon.

Complete your organic rose garden by adding natural mulch, such as leaves, strips of bark or dead grass across the top of the soil. Mulching helps to maintain moisture in the plants to keep them healthy. You will not need to prone your organic rose garden until the next season. Simply prune prior to early spring when growth begins to appear.

Help, I’m in Victoria Australia and I have ants eating my rose buds, any idea’s?

They were organic roses, but I’ve had to resort to sparaying them off with fly spray as the organic insecticides I have tried just don’t work. So other than going out there and spraying the ants off, which isn’t really working anyway, I don’t know how else to keep them away. They are quite large black ants too, maybe meatants??
I would really appreciate some advice.
Thanks Susie

turbo works
cut open a lemon or orange and make orange juice or lemonade without adding sugar and use a sprayer to spray the watered down solution on and around your plants.
