Taking Care Of Roses

Taking Care Of Roses
How do you take care of a rose plant that are planted outside ?

I have 2 rose plants outside,

One got cut down to almost the bottom since it dried up ( will it grow back ?? )

The other one is okay, but has no roses. How many times should I water them, how much ?

I live in Houston, Tx. and its reaching up to 106 F degrees right now in the summer.

Should I buy miracle grow ?

Hey Question 3r,

The one that was cut down to the bottom might put out shoots, you have to wait and see. Roses need rose fertilizers – they are very particular and you can not just fertilize them. Try the Bayer advanced rose food granuals – they have studied roses, and made this fertilizer to make growing roses more fun than science. This will help your roses.

Water them at least one time a week, give them a good soaking at the base of the plant – never over the top of the – that would cause fungus.

So, the other part of taking care of roses is the tops – use the Bayer advanced Rose and Flower spray. I am not a sales person for Bayer, these product work really good – and make growing roses easier.

The Basics About Caring For Roses

Your aim when caring for roses is always to produce the healthiest plants and blossoms as possible. That’s why you start with good soil and fertilizer, water properly, and plant your Rose Bushes where they will get a lot of sunlight. But even with good care, sometimes the roses can still become infected by some kind of disease or pest. So in addition to knowing how to care for healthy roses, you need to have some idea how you would prune and treat plants that have fallen prey to insects or blight.

To minimize the incidence of rose diseases, learn which roses are most susceptible. Hybrid tea roses, for example, are in a greater danger of succumbing than other varieties. So if you want to plant tea roses, then add beds of other kinds, as a sort of buffer. This can help prevent the spread of disease to other plants, so your whole garden won’t end up infected. Caring for roses starts at the bottom, with the preventative measure of well drained soil and good air circulation, and works its way up into the design of the garden itself.

If you do discover pests or diseases, though, often you can nip them, as it were, in the bud. Pruning roses below canker or black spots can often eliminate those problems. Be sure to throw away the diseased branches; never mix them into a compost bin, or they could spread the disease the next season. Aphids, spider mites, or the rose midge can be dealt with either by soapy water or an insecticide. The soapy water should be made of non-detergent soap, forty parts water to one part of soap. With rose care, you need to maintain constant vigilance against the tiny insects that might suck juices from the plants, and fungus and diseases that might harm their structure.

Creating a rose garden that is healthy and well grown is the ultimate goal of all the work you do. You may have to consult a professional gardener for advice if you can’t solve the difficulties you face. But often you can eliminate the problems, either by spraying against pests that appear, or simply pruning off branches that are diseased. Caring for roses doesn’t just mean planting and watering, and then crossing your fingers and hoping they will do well. It requires good preparation and care during the life of the plants and swift, knowledgeable action when something threatens them.

I just got a miniture rose bush as a gift, how do I care for it?

I only have a cactus so I don’t know how to take care of roses?

I killed a gerber daisy by over watering it and really don’t know what I’m doing :(

Make sure you put it where it can get lots of direct sunlight, preferably outside or at least near a sunny window. Watering depends on the weather so check the soil first, if its moist leave it till it dries out and then give the soil a good drink so you can see the water run out the bottom. Try not to get the leaves wet.
