My boyfriend is in the Air Force and I haven’t seen him in 2 years. He is flying home on valentines day. Should I get him a dozen yellow roses? (yellow being a military symbol) Or would that be lame?

Valentine was a priest who would preform marriage ceremonies to Roman soldiers. At that time in Rome, soldiers weren’t allowed to marry. The catholic church insisted on marriage, or dire things would happen.
So, the soldiers were caught between the government’s laws that said “No marriage” and the church’s laws that said “Marry or else”.
